For most of Christian history, most believers could not read — the great painters were their Bible. Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Giotto, Tanner, Doré: this is a small gallery of masterworks, each matched by hand to the passage it depicts, and each a doorway into reading that passage yourself. Every work is public domain or openly licensed.
