A site you can search — in eleven languages

SpecEnvoy got a lot bigger this summer. So we reorganized it, added a search that forgives your typos, and put the whole interface in eleven languages — and, true to form, all of it runs on your own device.
A year ago this site had one product on it. Now it has apps, a maths and music school, live data maps, and an arcade. Growth is a nice problem, but it's still a problem: things get hard to find. Here's what we did about it.
A tidier front door
We grouped everything into clear sections — Apps, Learn, Data, Games — with dropdown menus so a whole section is one tap away without cluttering the page. Crowded areas now lead with one spotlight and tuck the rest behind a clearly-labelled "more" so nothing's buried and nothing's overwhelming.
Search that meets you halfway
There's a search box in the header of every page now. It's built to be forgiving: mistype "metronme" and it still finds the metronome; type an abbreviation like "ht" and it knows you mean Heat Tracker; search in Chinese and it works too. It ranks by what you probably meant, not by exact spelling. And here's the part we like — the entire search index ships with the page and runs in your browser. There's no server watching what you look for, because there's no server involved at all.
Eleven languages, and it won't leave you stranded
Tap the globe in the corner and you can read the site's menus, search and footer in eleven languages: English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Russian and Spanish. Your choice is remembered, and if your browser is set to one of them, we'll offer it automatically — worked out on your device from your browser settings, not from tracking your location.
One promise we designed in from the start: if a page hasn't been translated into your language yet, it quietly falls back to English instead of showing you a broken, half-translated screen. Nothing ever breaks just because the words aren't ready.
Still nothing about you leaves your device
This is the thread through all of it. The search, the language detection, the preference memory — every bit of it happens in your browser. We don't run analytics on your queries, we don't log which language you picked, and there's nothing to log in the first place. A bigger site, but the same quiet promise.
