Everything else is first-party
- All 3D models — the animal Wardens and Envoys, the Rustbug robots, the
cottage, terrain and plants — are generated procedurally in code. No
external models, textures or sprite sheets are used.
- All sound is synthesized live in your browser with WebAudio. No recorded samples.
- Fonts are your device's system fonts; icons are standard Unicode emoji.
- Nation chips are abstract colour stripes, not reproductions of flag artwork.
- The map is ours by default. What you normally see is a schematic drawing
of the game’s own hex board plus the outline of the area you walked yourself, so
the game works with no internet connection.
- The optional real-world map (off unless you turn it on, under Outdoors)
draws streets and parks from OpenStreetMap, served by OpenFreeMap.
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors,
licensed ODbL. It needs an internet connection, and it asks a map server for the
ground where you are — so switching it on is the one thing in Phyloca that
sends anything about your location off your device. Everything else stays on your
phone, and the game tells you this before you choose.
Your data
- In Outdoors mode, GPS positions are processed entirely on your device
and are never uploaded anywhere.
- Saved games, calibrations and Legendary Moment videos live only in your
browser's local storage. Moments are shared only when you tap Share.
